My kids love the idea of going on a picnic, so we pack up what seems like half of our refrigerator a few times a year and head out to one of our favorite picnic spots in the Madisonville-Henderson area.
We’re lucky, in the Madisonville-Henderson area, to have so many great picnic spots to choose from! Here’s my family’s list of top three picnic spots in the Madisonville-Henderson area:
Location: Madisonville City Park 755 Park Ave Ct. Madisonville, KY 42431
Features: Disc Golf Course, Handicap Accessible Playground, 12 Picnic Shelters, Restroom Buildings, 1.25 mile Walking/Jogging Trail
What my kids love: My boys really love playing disc golf - it's great exercise! This is one of their favorite courses. They also love the playground at City Park!
What I love: They have some great picnic spots, including shelter houses, plus restroom BUILDINGS (with running water and electricity!). Yes, I love this picnic spot even more because of the access to modern plumbing!
Location: Atkinson Park 1813 N Elm St Henderson, KY 42420
Features: Disc Golf Course, Walking/Jogging Trails, Playground (with shade!), Skate Park, Baseball Park, Picnic Shelters, Boat Ramp
What my kids love: We really love this disc golf course! My boys don't skateboard (yet!), but they do love watching others use the skate park. The skaters are all very nice to my kids.
What I love: This park is so clean and well maintained. I almost always meet another friendly family when we go here!
Location: Morganfield City Park 201 Park Street Morganfield, KY 42437
Features: Tennis, softball, baseball, football, basketball, pool, playground, picnic shelters
What my kids love: They have a lot of room to run here so we usually bring a kickball or Frisbee.
What I love: Stopping at J.J.'s Pizza Pub and getting some Monster Bread to devour at the park!
